LYRICAL ABSTRACTION REFERS TO TWO DISTINCT MOVEMENTS OF ART

Lyrical abstraction refers to two distinct but related movements of modern post-war painting:

a)  The European lyrical abstraction thus baptized by the critic Jean José Marchand and the painter Georges Mathieu in 1947, whose initial and principal current, tachism, was defined from 1951 by critics Pierre Guéguen, Charles Estienne and Michel Tapié , Which will include these two notions in the informal art in 1952.
b ) American lyrical abstraction, a movement described in 1969 by Larry Aldrich, founder of the Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum in Ridgefield Connecticut.
